Worldline expands European presence with new account-to-account payment method

Worldline expands European presence with new account-to-account payment method

Worldline, a prominent player in the payment services sector, has recently unveiled its latest offering, “Bank Transfer by Worldline”.

This new payment method is designed to enrich the merchant’s toolkit by allowing the acceptance of direct account-to-account transactions. It is especially suited for handling invoices and large-scale financial transactions, providing a more streamlined and secure option compared to traditional payment methods across Europe.

Since its launch in August 2024, “Bank Transfer by Worldline” has been made available to merchants in ten European countries, including Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Spain. Plans are underway to extend this service to Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary by the end of the year. The service, which is currently integrated into approximately 500 of Worldline’s existing merchants’ online payment systems and pay-by-link services, aims to reach all eligible merchants within the EU, tapping into a customer base of around 300 million people with European bank accounts.

This service represents a significant leap forward in account-to-account payment solutions, bringing a fully integrated payment experience under the trusted Worldline brand. It features a robust suite of merchant services including low-code integration, rapid settlement notifications, hassle-free refunds, and consolidated payout, reporting, and reconciliation that are on par with other payment methods.

Paul Marriott-Clarke, head of merchant services at Worldline, highlighted the user-centric design of the payment solution, saying, “With “Bank Transfer by Worldline”, we have developed a payment method grounded in trust and simplicity, leveraging existing European payment networks and offering innovative customer experience. This launch reinforces our commitment to making payment solutions accessible for all.”

Andreas Jürgensen, sales operations director at Camping Vision, shared his positive experience with the new system. “By integrating Worldline’s open banking solution, which connects to over 3,500 banks across European countries, “Bank Transfer by Worldline” offers merchants a solution that simplifies payment initiation via bank transfer and unifies the customer experience.”
