Rokstone launches cyber supply chain cover

Rokstone, the international specialty (re)insurance MGA with operations spanning the UK, Europe, the US, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, has expanded its cyber offering through its Athena Cyber Division, unveiling a new extension aimed at customer and supplier supply chain disruption.

The extension broadens overall supply chain protection, covering losses stemming from cyberattacks that hit either an insured’s suppliers or its customers, addressing a growing vulnerability as businesses become ever more reliant on interconnected supply networks.

The offering is supported by $10m of A-rated Lloyd’s capacity and represents a notable shift for an insurance market that has lagged in addressing cyber risk within supply chains. In contrast to standard contingency business interruption policies, the new extension pays out when a cyberattack on a critical supplier halts an insured’s operations, or when an incident hitting a major customer stops them buying the insured’s products or services.

Protecting global supply networks has become an urgent priority, with data cited in the announcement showing that 61% of organisations have suffered a supply chain breach, and nearly a third of those cases led to operational disruption, financial losses and regulatory penalties. The announcement pointed to the recent cyberattack on Jaguar Land Rover as evidence of how damaging such vulnerabilities can be. The extension is described as one of only two of its kind currently available in the market, built to meet the systemic and increasingly complex cyber threats facing an AI-driven, interconnected business environment.

Rokstone underwrites $1.1bn of gross written premium globally, spanning property, power generation, marine, aviation, cedant-led facultative, agriculture, construction and engineering, casualty, accident and health, and financial lines.

The Athena Cyber Division is headed by Debbie Hobbs and is staffed entirely by female underwriters. Launched in July 2026, the unit was created as a dedicated cyber underwriting proposition, combining an experienced technical team with robust carrier support and a digitally driven service model to serve SMEs, mid-market firms and large corporates navigating a fast-changing cyber threat landscape.

Rokstone Athena President and Head of Cyber Debbie Hobbs said, “We’re out of the starting blocks and already winning the race when it comes to delivering the modern cyber protection businesses need.  Our new extension recognises that cyber events disrupt not only an organisation’s own systems, but also the wider commercial relationships on which they depend.  This is particularly true of SME’s, who are generally less able to limit the impact of third-party incidents. Rockstone Athena is proud to take the lead in addressing this issue and helping businesses worldwide enhance supply chain resilience.”
