April, an embedded, year-round tax platform designed to support smarter financial decision-making, has expanded its Integrated Tax Platform to give wealth management firms access to personalised tax planning insights drawn from client-authorised IRS tax data.
The upgrade allows firms to merge tax transcript data with April’s proprietary, IRS-approved tax engine, giving them a fuller picture of a client’s finances and helping them spot opportunities for more precisely tax-optimised financial planning.
The expanded tax data functionality responds to rising demand among advisory firms that want to go beyond conventional tax preparation and weave tax intelligence into onboarding, financial planning and the ongoing management of client relationships.
Having access to historical tax data means advisors can get a clearer read on complicated financial circumstances and surface planning opportunities tied to events like equity compensation, concentrated stock positions, Roth conversions and estimated tax payments.
April describes itself as the only company merging large-scale tax preparation with AI-powered tax planning, turning IRS tax data into precise, personalised insights advisors can draw on year-round.
Once a client has given consent, April securely pulls their IRS tax data and runs it through the company’s tax engine, which processed more than 1.4 million federal and state tax returns in 2026.
Firms are able to access tax data and planning insights straight from within their existing software and advisor workflows, allowing for greater customisation and take-up without adding a further standalone tool to their technology stack. The new capabilities will roll out as part of April’s Integrated Tax Platform, giving firms a solution that is ready to deploy with little implementation work required.
April is an embedded tax platform built specifically for wealth management firms, designed to help financial advisors turn tax from a backward-looking compliance obligation into a year-round contributor to stronger financial advice and firm growth. In 2025, the company’s AI-powered tax engine became the first in 15 years to gain full IRS e-file authorisation, making April one of only 11 providers nationwide with that status.
April co-founder and CEO Ben Borodach said, “Advisors are increasingly expected to deliver highly personalized guidance. Doing so effectively requires access to accurate, comprehensive financial information.
“Tax data is one of the most valuable sources of holistic client insight, yet it has historically been difficult to access and apply at scale. For many American families, gathering and sharing tax information with a financial advisor can be a frustrating, time-consuming process that makes it harder to take full control of their financial lives. By combining client-authorized IRS data with our tax engine, we’re helping firms turn tax data into actionable planning opportunities while making it easier for clients to securely access, share and use their tax information to make informed financial decisions.”
April president and COO Raj Doshi said, “Wealth management firms are increasingly looking to deliver family-office-level service at scale, and tax plays a foundational role in making that possible.
“For too long, taxes have been treated as an annual, retrospective compliance event instead of a year-round planning opportunity. By making tax data more accessible and actionable, we’re helping wealth management firms create more connected client experiences and deliver advice that is proactive, precise, and personalized.”
