ZeroRisk’s $10m bet on next-gen merchant cyber risk

ZeroRisk

ZeroRisk, the Dublin-headquartered cybersecurity firm that helps banks and payment providers manage cyber risk across their merchant portfolios, has closed a $10m Series A funding round.

The round was led by MiddleGame Ventures, with existing backer Elkstone also participating. The fresh capital will fund ZeroRisk’s international expansion, further development of its platform and the operational infrastructure needed to roll the technology out across large merchant portfolios.

ZeroRisk already counts Bank of America, Global Payments, Checkout.com and Trust Payments among its customers, and expects revenue to triple during 2026 as existing contracts move into deployment and its international footprint grows.

Founded in 2023, ZeroRisk provides banks and payment providers with a consolidated view of cyber risk across their entire merchant base.

The platform combines risk monitoring, compliance, education, guided remediation and protection services, giving merchants tailored guidance on the threats most relevant to their business and practical steps to address them. The company operates from offices in Dublin and Longford in Ireland, as well as Atlanta in the United States.

Merchant cyber programmes have historically centred on annual compliance checks, but the risks smaller businesses now face go well beyond that, spanning scams, credential theft, website vulnerabilities, attacks on connected devices and the ability to recover once an incident occurs.

ZeroRisk also positions its platform as a way for payment processors to turn compliance obligations into new revenue streams by distributing value-adding services to merchants.

ZeroRisk co-founder and CEO Gary Nolan said, “Payment companies have spent years trying to manage merchant risk through annual compliance exercises. That is no longer enough. Their customers are dealing with scams, credential theft, website vulnerabilities and attacks on devices every day. Our job is to give payment providers visibility across the portfolio and give merchants a clear route to action.”

“ZeroRisk has moved from proving the product to deploying it at scale. This investment will allow us to expand the team, deepen the platform and support the payment providers that have chosen to build their next-generation of merchant cyber programmes with us.”
