Fraud prevention key driver for AI solution spend by network operators to reach $15bn by 2024
The global operator spend on AI services is expected to grow by 430% over the next four years because of fraud mitigation and network optimisation efforts, according to a new study from Juniper Research.
This would mean that the total operator spend on AI solutions could exceed $15bn by 2024, up from $3bn in 2020.
Moreover, the researchers found that operators in developed regions, such as North America and Europe, would account for over 40% of AI spend by 2024, despite only accounting for less than 20% of global subscribers.
They also identified an opportunity in emerging markets as the operators in these regions will spend more than $5bn by 2024, rising from only $900m in 2020. It found that this growth will be driven largely by operators exploring early use cases of AI before expanding the presence of AI in their networks to include more comprehensive services.
