Fluent Commerce said to close $6.5m funding round

Australia-based e-commerce software developer Fluent Commerce has reportedly raised a $6.5m funding round.

Contributions to the round came from Blue Sky Ventures, Qualgro and Hybris Software chief executive Ariel Luedi, according to a report by Australia Financial Review.

Fluent builds omnichannel merchants with unified customer shopping experiences for both online and in-store interactions. The platform helps to offer personalised customer product suggestions, inventory analytics, returns, and delivery solutions.

The company is looking to use part of the capital to support international expansion into the UK and US markets. Following this move, the company will then look to target Europe and Asia by the end of 2018.

The e-commerce is the biggest sub-sector of the payments and remittance vertical, and there have been a range of investments into the space this month. This week saw Singapore-headquartered VENTENY close a $2.3m Series A round led by SBI. The company offers employee benefits, such as discounts to restaurants, hotels and fitness centres.

This month has also seen e-commerce solutions group Conversion Technologies acquire Sellpoints, which helps to increase sales for retailers and brands. E-commerce fraud prevention solution NS8 closed a $7.5m seed round led by Arbor Ventures to help with sales expansion across North American, Western Europe and India.

Last month, Blue Sky participated in the $65m Series B funding round of end-to-end e-commerce solutions provider aCommerce. The business is looking to use the proceeds from the series to further augment its technology.
