Bunq, Volt partner to bolster open payment technology

Dutch challenger bank Bunq has partnered with London-based payments company Volt to provide a faster way for Bunq customers to transfer money from other accounts.

Volt markets an open payments gateway that offers features such as easier access to recurring payments as well as strong authentication for account-to-account payments. Bunq, meanwhile, provides a digital banking service that seeks to remove the barriers from traditional mainstream banking. The company’s CEO and co-founder Ali Niknam founded the company in 2012.

The partnership will see Bunq integrate Volt into its technology stack, with Volt’s platform providing Bunq customers with the ability to transfer funds instantly to their Bunq cards and e-wallets from accounts held at other banks.

Bunq CEO and co-founder Ali Niknam said, “We are excited to provide a hassle-free experience to our users! With Volt, now they can reduce costs, stay safe, and save time and money when doing top-ups or transfers between banks – this empowers them to be free and focus on what’s really important without worrying about their finances!”

Volt chief commercial officer Jordan Lawrence added, “Bunq is bringing the benefits of open banking to a wide range of users and casting its vote for account-to-account payments. Bunq has been making waves in Europe with its customer-centric products, and we look forward to serving its continued growth and innovation in challenging the status quo across financial services.”
