Theta Lake boosts compliance, security coverage with Microsoft Teams certification

Collaboration security and compliance company Theta Lake has received compliance recording certification from Microsoft Teams.

Founded in 2017, California-based Theta supports companies in managing compliance, data exposure, security, and acceptable use risks in what is shared, shown, spoken, and typed during collaboration sessions. The company has data center and data residency coverage in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and the EU.

Following this certification, Theta claims it has now extended its position in the security and compliance markets and has earned co-sell ready status through the Microsoft One Commercial Partner program. Through the latter, Theta claims it will be able to collaborate and closely align with Microsoft’s sales organisation and partners to further expand go-to-market initiatives as well as the global adoption of its compliance and security suite on Azure.

The integration with Microsoft Teams will be available globally and in production use with customers.

Theta’s Microsoft Teams integration modules now involve a range of new features, including Microsoft Teams meeting, recording, archiving and supervision, which provides users with compliance recording, archiving and full analysis and supervision for video, voice and chat meeting content.

Other features include chat capture, archiving, supervision and remediation and data loss prevention, as well as security and compliance center integration. Companies are also able to benefit from a real-time compliance advisor for Teams meetings and OneDrive integration support, which will allow compliance teams to capture, compliantly archive and detect risks in content stored in Microsoft OneDrive – such as audio records, documents and video recordings.

Furthermore, the integration will include Microsoft 365 Archive and Microsoft Azure Integration. The former will add Theta Lake risk and detection insights with reviewer and workflow audit history into the Microsoft 365 archive with the ability to add views into the company’s patented review workspace.

The latter integration will offer the ability to move or archive content and analysis insights for content captured to Microsoft Azure storage. This, Theta claims, will provide an ability to use Theta Lake deployed completely via Azure will robust security and compliance controls, including a ‘bring-your-own-encryption key’ for customers.

Through this integration, Theta noted companies can now selectively record, capture and archive voice, chat and video communications to meet regulatory requirements across MiFID II, IIROC, SEC, FINRA, CFTC and more.

Theta Lake CEO Devin Redmond said, “Microsoft is clearly a leader in the market and in market share of the Unified Communication and Collaboration space and having a robust set of ISV partners and partner integrations is another validation of that leadership as a complete platform.

“The Compliance Recording Certification and co-sell ready status are great milestones that continue to demonstrate our ever-expanding relationship with Microsoft. Theta Lake’s full security and compliance coverage of all aspects of Teams enables highly regulated organizations to fully embrace Teams with enhanced compliance to unlock even more Teams features for information sharing and communication.”

Microsoft Teams Ecosystem principal program manager Yaron Hezroni added, “We are excited to see Theta Lake commitment to expand its suite of compliance and security capabilities for Microsoft Teams, helping address advanced and specialized compliance use cases for Microsoft customers. Theta Lake leverages the Microsoft Teams Graph APIs to deliver unique compliance functionality for Microsoft customers in a tightly integrated way.”

Theta recently released its latest integration module for Zoom, which provides financial services companies with selective archiving for eComms. The new module for the Theta Lake Security and Compliance Suite has selective content archiving options for any content types or modes used in Zoom Meetings.
