Investment platform CIRCA5000, has stormed past the target for its crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube.
The FinTech company has raised £3m, at the time of writing, beating its initial target of £1m with 24 days still left on the fundraise.
CIRCA5000 is raising the capital at a pre-money valuation of £30m and shares are priced at £1.43. So far, 1,967 individuals have backed the round, with 9.22% being distributed amongst the backers.
The company has raised £7m to date from VC’s and high-profile angel investors.
Originally launched in 2019 as tickr, CIRCA5000 has grown its user based by 265% year-on-year, to over 150,000 users as of October 2021.
The platform’s portfolios are structured around two core themes: planet and people. This means users can make investments that have a positive impact on the world, and without having to sacrifice any potential financial return, CIRCA5000 said.
With this funding round CIRCA5000 said it will expand its team, ramp up customer acquisition and bring new products like pensions to CIRCA5000.
CIRCA5000 said, “In our view, investing needs a serious correction. On the one hand, the investment industry has opened up over the last two years, but this has now led to trading platforms being played like slot machines.
“And on the other hand, is the rise of ESG investing, but this hardly scratches the surface when it comes to tackling issues like climate change & social inequality.”
The investment platform also champions financial inclusion. “That’s why we have introduced tools like our roundup feature, which allows anyone to add funds to their balance through rounding up their everyday spending,” CIRCA5000 explained.
