Latin America FinTech deal activity in Q1 already ahead of last year’s levels

  • Based on the pace of investments in the first three months of 2021, FinTech deal activity in Latin America is on track to set a new annual record. If investment activity continues at the same rate, deal activity in 2022 is expected to grow by 25%. Funding in the region during Q1 2022 is comparable to 2021 levels during the same period, indicating total capital invested to remain at $12.6bn.
  • Deals over $100m accounted for 75% of funding in 2021 and this is likely to continue as three large deals were completed in Q1 2022 by Neon ($300m), a digital bank account, Creditas ($260m), a consumer lending start-up that operates a digital platform and Betterfly ($125m), a dynamic life insurance provider based on habits.
