Berlin remains Germany’s FinTech hub for seed deal activity accounting for 57% of deals

  • Germany raised 19 FinTech seed deals in Q3 2022, a 40% drop from the pervious quarter. FinTech seed deal activity in Germany is on track to reach 97 deals in total for the year based on levels in the first three quarters of 2022. Berlin was the most active FinTech city during Q3 2022 with 11 FinTech seed deals, a 57% share.
  • Bunch, an operating system for private market investing, was the largest FinTech seed deal in Germany for the third quarter of 2022 raising $7.4m in their seed round led by Cherry Ventures. The funding will be used to expand both its geographic markets and asset classes. In addition, bunch will also use the proceeds to advance its software platform’s technical and product development to make it easier for all investors to participate in private markets. Bunch launched a beta version of its investment pooling platform in Germany and the Netherlands three months ago, and has already transacted close to €150m of assets for 500 customers across start-up investments and funds.
