Payments veteran Irina Chuchkina joins Volt as chief marketing officer

Volt, a global real-time payments platform, has made a strategic appointment by bringing in Irina Chuchkina as its first Chief Marketing Officer.

This move comes during a pivotal growth phase for Volt, especially following its successful $60m Series B funding round and the expansion into Australia. Chuchkina’s appointment aligns with Volt’s ambitious plans to capitalize on the growing market demand for real-time payments globally. This development follows closely after the appointment of ex-Stripe European CEO, Matt Henderson, as a Special Advisor.

Volt specializes in facilitating real-time payment solutions on a global scale. Their platform has gained significant traction in the market, particularly after securing a $60m Series B funding. Volt’s expansion strategies have recently included moving into the Australian market, indicating their commitment to becoming a global leader in real-time payments.

Irina Chuchkina brings a wealth of experience to Volt, with over 18 years in the payments sector across Europe and Asia. Her previous role as Chief Marketing Officer at Thunes, a Singapore-based payment infrastructure platform, saw her leading global marketing strategies. Her career also includes significant positions at Rapyd, Grab, and Visa. Chuchkina’s role at Volt will involve steering the company’s global marketing strategy and supporting its ambitious global expansion plans.

Her background is impressive, with significant contributions at her previous positions. While at Rapyd, Chuchkina was instrumental in the go-to-market strategy in the APAC region and managing Global Brand and Communications. At Grab, she played a key role in launching GrabPay and the GrabRewards loyalty platform. Her new role at Volt will leverage this extensive experience to enhance the company’s market presence and expansion efforts.

Other notable achievements of Chuchkina include her service on the board of the Singapore FinTech Association and being recognized as one of the top 25 women leaders in financial technology in Europe by The Financial Technology Report.

In her statement, Irina Chuchkina expressed enthusiasm for the transformative potential of real-time payments and Volt’s role in this evolution. She highlighted the foundational work done by Volt’s founders and her eagerness to contribute to the company’s growth and brand enhancement.

Tom Greenwood, Founder and CEO of Volt, also commented on Chuchkina’s appointment, praising her extensive experience in payments and marketing. He emphasized that her international experience would be instrumental in driving Volt’s global success.
