Ecommpay launches Italian payments suite to support e-commerce growth

Ecommpay, a global payments platform known for inclusive and secure payment solutions, is enhancing support for international e-commerce merchants entering the Italian market.

This product launch responds to a key challenge for online sellers expanding into Italy: lack of localised payment options. Ecommpay research indicates that the absence of familiar payment methods leads to basket abandonment, with customers abandoning purchases when their preferred methods aren’t available.

Founded with a mission to simplify global payments, Ecommpay offers acquiring, card processing, and a wide range of Alternative Payment Methods (APMs) to support businesses across multiple industries. Its platform is tailored for both local and cross-border transactions, focusing on seamless integration, fraud prevention, and conversion optimisation.

The new Italian market solution delivers access to a full suite of local and global payment methods, including the popular Satispay, MyBank, and BANCOMAT Pay. These options are offered alongside standard card and bank transfers, enabling merchants to offer a comprehensive checkout experience.

The platform’s dynamic payment choice feature is designed to increase acceptance rates by 2–3%, while the inclusion of local APMs also lowers transaction costs for merchants. This launch is particularly significant in the context of Italy’s e-commerce landscape.

B2C e-commerce in the country is valued at $51bn, with Italian shoppers spending an average of $1,007 annually. Notably, 69% of all online purchases in Italy are completed using alternative digital payment methods. E-wallets lead the market, representing 35% of online payments, while cards make up 31%. Mobile commerce is also thriving, with 40% of purchases made via mobile devices.

To further support merchants, Ecommpay’s platform allows payment pages to be displayed in up to 160 languages, automatically adapting to a customer’s IP address or device language—facilitating a seamless local experience.

Ecommpay Global head of partnerships Rosanna Helm-Visscher said, “Italy’s e-commerce landscape is dynamic and growing, presenting significant potential for international merchants. By offering a diverse range of payment options, including popular local payment methods Satispay, Mybank and Bancomat, and global e-wallets, we are empowering businesses to create a seamless and localised checkout experience, ultimately driving higher conversion rates and fostering customer loyalty.”
