Finastra SCF aims to speed up bank supply chain finance

Finastra, the financial software provider serving thousands of banks worldwide, has rolled out Finastra Supply Chain Finance (SCF), a platform built to help lenders expand their working capital programmes more quickly and open up new sources of growth.

SCF links into Finastra’s Trade Innovation and Loan IQ platforms via the Nexus API suite. Banks can therefore offer trade, lending and supply chain finance as joined-up services and bring them to market sooner.

The platform covers the full lifecycle, including attracting and onboarding buyers and suppliers, fulfilment, servicing, risk management and distribution on secondary markets.

Finastra has designed SCF around straight-through processing. Through the Nexus API suite, it plugs into ERP systems and trade ecosystem partners, and its data layer feeds lending decisions and portfolio oversight. The software runs on cloud-native infrastructure and can be deployed on-premise, as SaaS, or through models in between.

Finastra expects banks to benefit in five ways. Pre-built links to corporate systems, partners and existing integrations should shorten product launch cycles. Banks can oversee limits, exposures and data for trade finance, letters of credit, guarantees, loans and supply chain finance from a single platform.

Native secondary market tools automate pricing, limit management and reconciliation as assets are distributed. AI-driven fraud detection, compliance screening and eligibility checks sit inside day-to-day workflows. The architecture can also handle thousands of counterparties and millions of invoices with real-time servicing.

The launch forms the next stage of Finastra’s ongoing spending on Trade Innovation and Loan IQ. The company wants banks to run trade, lending and supply chain finance under one commercial and risk management framework. Its digital trade finance platform, Trade Innovation, automates workflows, cuts risk and improves working capital efficiency. It is being reshaped into a modular, cloud-ready and API-first ecosystem.

Later versions of SCF will add purchase order (PO) finance, pre- to post-shipment finance, inventory finance, distributor finance and further working capital tools.

Finastra head of product, trade supply chain finance and corporate channels Vinay Mendonca said, “Banks are looking for ways to bring new working capital solutions to market faster to capture new revenue streams delivered through STP journeys, and lower costs, while addressing operational risks and regulatory complexity.

“By combining new supply chain finance capabilities with Trade Innovation and Loan IQ, we’re enabling banks to take a more connected approach to working capital. This launch marks an important milestone in the evolution of our Trade Innovation platform as we look to bring more API, AI and cloud-led innovation to the market, leveraging our deep expertise in the trade domain, to help institutions innovate and grow.”
