Litigation FinTech Sandfield Capital secures £10.5m facility with Altimapa Capital

Sandfield Capital, a litigation FinTech specialising in disbursement funding for legal cases, has secured a £10.5m funding facility through Altimapa Capital, a debt finance specialist.

The new funding marks the second facility arranged by Altimapa Capital for Sandfield Capital, following a £20m fundraising round completed in December. This facility forms part of a broader £100m fundraising effort being led by Altimapa on behalf of Sandfield Capital.

Sandfield Capital, established in 2020 with offices in Liverpool and London, provides loans to individuals and law firms pursuing legal claims. The company focuses on areas of law with high success rates, such as undisclosed commissions from finance brokers and housing disrepair claims. It has recently expanded its funding portfolio to include military hearing loss claims and added three specialist law firms to its panel.

With its bespoke platform, Sandfield Capital integrates seamlessly with law firms’ systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory and underwriting standards while enabling rapid claims processing. Its fully insured loans ensure claimants have no financial liability if their cases are unsuccessful.

The latest facility will allow Sandfield Capital to expand its operations, including hiring additional staff at its Liverpool centre and funding a broader range of legal claims.

Steven D’Ambrosio, CEO of Sandfield Capital, said: “This new funding comes as Sandfield continues to make significant strides in helping to democratise access to justice. There has been a dramatic increase in undisclosed commissions and housing disrepair cases following news coverage and increased awareness of the legal remedies available. This latest funding will enable many more people to bring their case to court.”

Pedro Tavares, CEO of Altimapa Capital, added: “We’re pleased to have secured an additional £10.5m credit facility for Sandfield Capital. It underscores our ability to bring international capital to UK businesses and the attractiveness of the civil litigation market to a widening, and increasingly international, panel of investors. We look forward to helping the Sandfield team in their mission to further unlock the potential of this dynamic market.”
