Reap, a global FinTech company that provides stablecoin-enabled financial infrastructure for businesses worldwide, has introduced Sentry, a fully managed fraud and risk service built for card programmes.
Sentry takes over the entirety of a client’s transaction risk management workload, covering everything from setting up fraud rules and screening authorisations as they happen, through to investigating flagged alerts, handling chargebacks, and reporting confirmed fraud cases to Visa. Businesses using the service are freed from having to build or licence their own fraud-monitoring systems, or recruit a dedicated fraud team.
The launch comes against a backdrop of mounting card fraud costs. Worldwide losses from payment card fraud reached $33.41bn in 2024, set against global card volume of $51.920tn, according to the Nilson Report published in January 2026.
With authorisation decisions made in a matter of milliseconds, every card in use effectively functions as a live payment tool, meaning fraud has to be intercepted at the moment of authorisation rather than dealt with retroactively, since the secondary costs of an incident can outweigh the fraud itself. Attack methods continue to shift, turning fraud management into a persistent operational demand rather than a one-off setup task.
Sentry draws on the infrastructure already powering Reap’s card issuing business. Having issued millions of cards over eight years, Reap applies fraud intelligence gathered across its wider issuing portfolio to build controls suited to each client, accounting for factors such as their cardholder base, regions of operation and risk tolerance.
In practice, Sentry continuously screens transactions and blocks suspected fraud at the point of authorisation, while also triaging and investigating alerts as they arise. Controls are kept current against emerging threats, including BIN attacks and merchant data breaches, and are refined over time as a programme develops, without clients needing to step in. The service further handles chargeback submissions and representations, reports verified fraud, and delivers programme performance updates on a set schedule. Access to Sentry is provided through a single Reap API.
Responsibility is split between the two parties: Reap secures the authorisation layer it manages and monitors, while clients continue to own the cardholder relationship, along with first-party fraud touchpoints such as onboarding, identity checks and account access.
Reap head of product Harris Leow said, “Most companies launching a card programme have to build a fraud function from day one. Doing so requires specialist tooling, dedicated expertise and several months of preparation before they can safely issue a single card, by which point the threat landscape may already have shifted.
“That is rarely how a team wants its first months to go. Sentry takes on that entire card fraud function: our controls, data and specialists, tailored to each card programme.”
