InsurTech and Payments & Remittances companies have collected six of the top 10 deals in Italy since 2015

The top 10 FinTech deals in Italy have raised a combined funding of $269.6m, accounting for 85.9% of FinTech investment in the country since 2015. Of the top 10 transactions, six were raised by companies operating in InsurTech and Payments & Remittances subsectors. The Thomson Reuters Practical Law report stated that the InsurTech subsector in Italy continues to provide great opportunity for expansion, however it remains small in comparison to the whole insurance market in the country.

Prima.it, an Italian online car insurance company, raised $115m in a series A round led by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and Goldman Sachs Private Capital Investing in October 2018, the largest deal in Italy since 2015. The company used the funding to further invest into new technology and to grow their sales & marketing workforce.

Satispay, an Italian payments company, raised $21.9m in a series B round in April 2017, the largest Payments & Remittances deal in Italy since 2015. The company has been active in the digital payments market since then, with over 340,000 online users on their platform and affiliated 44,000 sales points in the country as of July 2018.

The Other category contains two companies each operating in Marketplace Lending (Credimi) and Real Estate (Casavo) subsectors, which accounts for four of the top 10 transactions.
