Allianz apoint new CEO of Central Europe

Allianz SE has announced the appointment of a new CEO of Allianz Central Europe beginning January 1, 2024.

According to the release, Nina Klingspor, the current CEO of Allianz Private Krankenversicherungs-AG (APKV), responsible for Allianz’s private health insurance business in Germany, is slated to take on the role of CEO of Central Europe for Allianz Group.

This move, pending approval by relevant corporate bodies, positions her to lead Allianz’s national businesses across 11 countries in Central and Eastern Europe.

Concurrently, current incumbent of the role, Petros Papanikolaou will transition to the helm of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS), assuming additional responsibility for leading Allianz Commercial globally, contingent upon regulatory approval.

Klingspor has been instrumental in steering APKV since her appointment in 2019, charting a strategic course and fostering a culture that yielded remarkable financial results and heightened customer loyalty.

Her leadership contributed to elevated levels of technical excellence and robust business development within APKV. To succeed her, Jan Esser has been nominated, pending approval by the relevant corporate bodies.

Before her tenure as CEO of APKV, Klingspor held the position of CFO at AGCS for four years and served as Head of Office for Allianz SE CEO Michael Diekmann from 2012 to 2015.

Her journey at Allianz began in 2000 as Chief of Staff to the CEO of Allianz Global Investors, subsequently assuming roles such as Head of Marketing and Head of Third-Party Distribution in Germany.

Her professional trajectory commenced at Landesbank Baden Württemberg (LBBW), where she worked in Stuttgart and Beijing, overseeing credit risk for Asian financial institutions and contributing to LBBW’s German Center Beijing.

Klaus-Peter Roehler, Member of the Allianz SE Board of Management, said “I want to thank Petros for the outstanding work he has done at Allianz Central Europe, his establishment of the regional entity and his successful transformation of the regional model. Nina is ideally suited to take on Petros role and drive our regional integrated strategy in the Central European region: Her proximity to sales, her financial knowledge, and her understanding for technical excellence as well as her teamplay are outstanding. With her personality and her skills, the Central European region will have a strong leader.”
