Unwritten , formerly known as Dovetail Finance, has successfully completed a seed funding round, securing $3.5m.
According to Tech EU, this London-based startup is carving out a niche in the burgeoning field of climate risk intelligence.
The funding was spearheaded by Connect Ventures, a software-focused venture capital firm based in London. They were joined by Planet A Ventures, a climate-centric VC, along with other notable participants including Sand River, Adapt Nation Capital, and a mix of academic and industry angel investors.
Unwritten’s platform is designed to assess how climate change could impact companies globally. By leveraging big data analytics, the company models the interactions between various factors such as regional climates, market sectors, policy developments, and technological advancements, providing comprehensive insights into macroeconomic trends.
The newly acquired funds are earmarked for further development of Unwritten’s climate risk analytics software. The company aims to refine its tools to better serve investors looking to understand and mitigate climate-related risks in their portfolios.
Additionally, the roots of Unwritten are deeply embedded in high-tech espionage analysis, with its co-founders having developed their initial climate analytics expertise at Palantir Technologies. This unique background underscores Unwritten’s robust analytical capabilities.
Unwritten co-founder and CEO Amos Wittenberg expressed his vision for the company: “Great analytics help people ask the right questions in the right language, to inform the decisions their organisations make. Unwritten makes financial sense of the climate transition — not to predict the future, but so our clients can make the capital allocation decisions to build it.”
Prior to this round, Unwritten had raised £750k in pre-seed funding, setting the stage for this significant seed round investment.
