CaixaBank’s strategic alliance with Apple revolutionises e-commerce payments in Europe

CaixaBank, a leader in mobile payments, has joined forces with Apple, a global technology giant, to enhance the digital banking experience for its customers.

CaixaBank stands out with 4.4m customers using mobile devices for transactions, showcasing robust activity with over 800m transactions in the past year. Apple, renowned for its innovative technology solutions, brings its expertise in digital payment systems to this partnership.

The collaboration between CaixaBank and Apple is driven by a shared goal to improve customer experiences in digital banking. This partnership marks a significant step in mobile payments, with CaixaBank becoming the first in continental Europe to offer e-commerce split payments using Apple Pay.

CaixaBank has firmly established itself as a benchmark in Spain’s payment methods sector, consistently innovating customer solutions. The bank’s proactive approach is evident from its early adoption of NFC mobile payments and contactless card technologies.

This strategic partnership introduces a new payment functionality that allows CaixaBank customers to split payments at the point of purchase using Apple Pay. This option will be available across various Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches, providing flexibility and clarity on payment terms and interest involved.

Further elevating the consumer payment experience, this initiative allows customers to choose instalment payments during online and in-app purchases, enhancing the ease of transactions.
