Sumsub, a global identity verification and fraud prevention platform, has become a member of the Merchant Risk Council (MRC), a leading international non-profit association serving payments, fraud prevention, and risk professionals.
The move reinforces Sumsub’s focus on supporting e-commerce businesses, marketplaces, and digital platforms in combating fraud and building safer user environments. As threats such as AI-driven fraud, account takeovers, synthetic identities, and payment abuse grow in complexity, businesses are increasingly looking for integrated solutions that bring together identity verification, fraud prevention, and risk management under a single approach.
Through the MRC’s global network, Sumsub will contribute its expertise to discussions on fraud challenges including fake accounts, stolen identities, seller fraud, promotional abuse, chargebacks, mule accounts, and payment-related risks, while also gaining greater visibility into the pressures merchants and marketplaces are navigating.
Sumsub provides businesses with tools for identity verification, fraud prevention, and user trust across e-commerce, marketplace, and digital platform environments, where fraud prevention and user safety are becoming increasingly intertwined.
The MRC membership is also expected to support Sumsub’s broader efforts to deepen its presence in the digital trust ecosystem and expand its capabilities in e-commerce and marketplace fraud prevention.
Sumsub chief product officer Andrew Novoselsky said, “As fraud becomes more sophisticated, businesses need to think beyond compliance and focus on protecting trust throughout the customer lifecycle. Joining MRC allows us to collaborate more closely with merchants, marketplaces, and risk leaders around the world to better understand emerging threats, share best practices, and help build safer digital experiences.”
