Fidelity International, a leading investment management firm, has expanded its sustainability team with two noteworthy hires.
According to ESG Today, Phil Cliff, previously with M&G Investments, and Aaron Hay, formerly at Federated Hermes, have both stepped into roles as Directors of Sustainable Investing.
Fidelity International is a renowned investment management firm. Over the years, it has committed to building a robust sustainability-focused strategy, seeking to integrate sustainable practices into its investment processes.
Phil Cliff, in his new position as Director, Sustainable Investing (Climate), is poised to amplify Fidelity’s climate strategy and transition plan. His primary objectives include working towards the firm’s goals of halving portfolio emissions by 2030 and attaining net zero by 2050. Additionally, Cliff will ensure Fidelity’s reporting strategy resonates with its commitment to integrating climate considerations into its investment activities.
On the other hand, Aaron Hay, as Director, Sustainable Investing (Private Credit), will be at the helm of sculpting the sustainable investing strategy for Fidelity’s private credit sector. Hay’s remit will span ensuring effective ESG integration into the investment process and spearheading stewardship and engagement initiatives related to the firm’s private credit investments.
Phil Cliff’s illustrious career at M&G Investments started in 2011. He held the pivotal position of Head of Climate and was instrumental in crafting the firm’s climate strategy, which included devising M&G’s net zero investment framework and other innovative climate-related tools.
Aaron Hay, before joining Fidelity, made significant strides at Federated Hermes, holding the role of Director, Engagement & Strategy – Sustainable Fixed Income. His stewardship at Hermes involved directing the firm’s corporate engagement programme, especially for SDG Engagement High Yield. Additionally, Hay’s experience also includes a tenure as Strategy Manager, Sustainability at the professional services giant, Accenture.
Fidelity International’s commitment to sustainable investment practices is evident from its recent senior sustainability-focused appointments. This includes bringing onboard Jenn-Hui Tan as the firm’s first Chief Sustainability Officer and Ellie Tang last year, who took on the role of Director, Sustainable Investing based in Hong Kong.
