Theta Lake unveils 100+ new compliance capabilities for enhanced digital communications governance including dozens of industry-first capabilities

Theta Lake, the market-leader in digital communications governance and archiving (DCGA) solutions, has announced that it is adding over 100 new capabilities to its flagship offering.

Theta Lake, the market-leader in digital communications governance and archiving (DCGA) solutions, has announced that it is adding over 100 new capabilities to its flagship offering.

The solution has been imbued with a swathe of industry-first innovations, to extend the company’s position as the space’s pre-eminent force.

Theta Lake’s expanded DCGA platform is part of its ongoing mission to offer a cohesive compliance solution across all workplace communication channels that deliver better business outcomes.

The Compliance and Risk Suite addresses the common issues of siloed eComms archives and compliance voice recordings by unifying capture, archiving, search, supervision, and surveillance functions.

In an exclusive interview with FinTech Global, Director of Global Product Marketing at Theta Lake, Garth Landers opened up on the firm’s innovative offering, explaining how it addresses the growing compliance challenges that organisations are facing.

“In addressing these challenges, we take a comprehensive approach,” Landers explained. “As highlighted in our recent announcement, we’ve introduced over 135 new features and capabilities to our platform, which we refer to as Digital Communications Governance and Archiving (DCGA)—a term coined by Gartner to define this market. This suite addresses the compliance needs of modern communications across unified communications, contact centres, whiteboards, and more.

“Our approach starts with capturing content from mission-critical communications platforms to ensure it is properly indexed and preserved for record-keeping, helping organisations avoid the large fines and sanctions recently seen in the news. This also allows them to re-enable many UCC features that were previously turned off for compliance purposes,” Landers said.

The platform is designed to streamline compliance processes, offering extensive support for key governance requirements such as litigation response, compliance audits, and investigations.

It enables organisations to efficiently locate and consolidate necessary information across a wide range of formats, including voice, video, whiteboards, chat, and SMS.

Equipped with powerful visualisation tools, Theta Lake’s solution empowers compliance teams to quickly assess cases, gain clear insights, and respond promptly and accurately to regulatory needs.

“Additionally, our platform helps organisations proactively detect and identify risks within the massive volume of information generated every day,” said Landers. “This includes identifying communications that might signal potential bribery or gift-giving. We offer coverage across nine languages, allowing teams to monitor communications patterns even when users switch languages. Our platform also recognises and flags the use of unauthorised chatbots that may take notes during meetings.

“We deliver this functionality in a modular, frictionless way that enables organisations to address compliance requirements based on their specific needs, without requiring extensive time or capital resources,” he continued.

Wide breadth of innovative features

Theta Lake’s unified DCGA offering is built upon the premise of leading the market. It has solidified this position by adding more than 135 new innovations to its Digital Communications Governance and Archiving (DCGA) suite, designed to unify compliance across all workplace communication channels.

Key areas include the industry-first Unified Capture offering, enabling rapid deployment across any communication tool, with over 25 new content types and certified integrations such as Zoom AI, Verizon SMS/MMS, and Workvivo.

Unified Search now offers instant cross-platform search with a fully compliant audit trail, AI-based image summarisation, and advanced search tools for enhanced reviewer speed and context.

Theta Lake’s Proactive Compliance has introduced industry-first multilingual detection, identifying risks like bribery and unauthorised AI notetakers, alongside exclusive tools for AI summary analysis and code-switching in multi-language conversations.

With comprehensive capture, search, and proactive risk management, Theta Lake’s innovative solutions push compliance beyond traditional boundaries, empowering organisations to detect, respond, and manage communications risks swiftly and effectively.

Dan Nadir, Chief Product Officer, Theta Lake explained, “Our latest release further strengthens Theta Lake’s Digital Communications Governance and Archiving capabilities, making the Theta Lake suite by far the most powerful solution to help organisations ensure compliance without sacrificing productivity. It allows compliance-driven firms to maintain and streamline compliance across more text, audio and video modalities than any other solution, and has been validated by our customers and well-known industry leaders.”

Pushing forward

While the acronym DCGA is a new market description, Theta Lake has been innovating in this market since 2017. Since then, the company’s ethos has been clear, and it has successfully redefined the entire market through the development of its DCGA solution.

Landers stated, “When Theta Lake was founded in 2017, there was no such thing as a Digital Communications Governance and Archiving market. Theta Lake pioneered this space. The more than 135 compliance innovations we’ve introduced today include dozens of industry-firsts, underscoring the strength and productivity of our product and engineering teams, who deliver these capabilities at a rapid pace. This sets us apart and reinforces our leadership in providing the most unified and fully featured solution on the market today. It enables organisations to effectively address compliance challenges and achieve better businessoutcomes.”

This remarkable achievement is just the tip of the iceberg. With Theta Lake’s unified platform, organisations are saving hours – or even days – compared to using platforms produced by other industry incumbents

Landersexplained, “We help organisations capture mission-critical content from different channels quickly, with time to value measured in hours or days. For example, our AI-based products like proactive compliance start with over 85 foundational machine learning risk detections, allowing immediate action on common requirements from the SEC, FCA, NASDAQ, FINRA, in addition to security and data privacy requirements and more. In contrast, competitors often take 18 to 24 months to implement, as they need to build bespoke rules, understand the customer’s environment, and develop connectors to communication platforms like Zoom, Microsoft, or RingCentral. This lengthy process means they face huge time-to-value gaps, whereas with Theta Lake, our customers see results in days, not years. It’s a big difference—our approach is frictionless and unique in the marketplace.”

The offering has already received critical acclaim from sector incumbents, who have lavished praise on Theta Lake’s unique approach that is enabling them to operate at a better level than ever before.

“Enabling us to move quickly to first improve our communication capture for new UCC tools with low disruption to our existing compliance systems helped us get on the path to modernise everything faster,” said John Leeming, Senior Vice President & CCO, JL Bainbridge. Theta Lake allowed us to capture communications from our UCC tools more quickly and then gave us a path to consolidate and unify our archiving, voice recording, search, and supervision. That phased approach to move to the newer Gartner concept of DCGA helped us move more quickly than trying to do a full replacement in one step.”

Zeus Kerravala, founder and Principal Analyst, ZK Research, concurred with his assessment, adding, “The new workplace powered by Unified Communication and Collaboration tools is driving a need for Digital Communications Governance and Archiving (DCGA) that can cover all of the channels and features of UCC in one place. The ability for Theta Lake to provide a truly unified DCGA suite that allows customers to deploy compliance quickly and incrementally with intelligent alignment to use cases, gives customers a great path to mitigate risks and safeguard themselves from legal and compliance issues before they arise while getting more value out of UCC and DCGA.”

The future

Kaizen, defined as a Japanese business philosophy of continuous improvement of working practices and personal efficiency, sums up the creed of Theta Lake perfectly.

Whilst the firm has redefined the DCGA game with its latest influx of updates, it is certainly not standing still. Not content with simply being at the forefront, the California-based firm has already turned its head to the future, as it looks to continue reinventing the wheel.

Landers opened up on the inner drive at Theta Lake, remarking, “We do not sit still. We have a continuous innovation and product release cycle that is unmatched. What we’re detailing here is just one example—hundreds of features, enhancements, and capabilities are introduced each quarter, all driven by customer demand.

“We work closely with our partners to ensure there are no gaps between their releases, customer usage, and our offerings. Additionally, we engage directly with the compliance community to understand their needs. We also collaborate with regulators and serve as a sounding board, with former regulators and compliance experts on our team. By listening to customers, partners, and the compliance community. And we don’t just keep pace. We’re often very much ahead of what the market requires.
