MAPFRE RE, the global reinsurance subsidiary of MAPFRE, has announced key leadership changes effective 1 July.

MAPFRE RE, the global reinsurance subsidiary of MAPFRE, has announced key leadership changes effective 1 July.

Fernando Utrilla Agüero has been named deputy CFO, and José López González becomes assistant general manager of MAPFRE Group Business. Both will report to CEO Miguel Rosa.

These appointments are part of MAPFRE RE’s ongoing leadership renewal strategy, initiated earlier this year with the promotion of Javier San Basilio to general manager. The firm aims to enhance business development, commercial partnerships, and operational efficiency.

Utrilla has worked at MAPFRE RE since 1994 and holds degrees in business administration and insurance sciences. López, who joined in 2008, brings deep experience in retrocessions and holds a degree in economics.

On 6 September, José Manuel Inchausti will join as director and chairman, succeeding Esteban Tejera, who retires due to statutory board age limits.

MAPFRE RE CEO Miguel Rosa said, “These changes are part of our broader transformation plan and are aimed at enhancing our leadership team to ensure continued business growth and stronger client relationships.”
