SS&C launches agentic AI for smarter operations

SS&C Technologies has introduced a new catalogue of AI agents designed to streamline complex functions across financial services and healthcare.

Delivered as a managed service, the agents focus on areas such as credit processing and contract validation, where lengthy documentation and time-consuming checks often slow down productivity.

American Life & Security, a Nebraska-based annuity and retirement provider, is among the first firms to test the new technology. The company is evaluating SS&C’s Credit Agreement Document Agent to support its private credit operations, with the system designed to review and update loan documents on an ongoing basis.

This reduces the need for manual review and cuts the risk of human error. SS&C said that its own internal use of the agent has already led to notable reductions in credit processing times.

American Life CEO Georgette Nicholas said, “SS&C’s AI agent offering stood out due to its successful implementation within the firm’s own operations. The ability to update credit agreements almost in real time will be transformative allowing our team to focus on higher-value work instead of manual upkeep. This adoption reinforces our commitment to advancing innovation within the annuity and retirement sector.”

The agents are built on the SS&C AI Gateway, a governance platform designed to provide secure, compliant and auditable access to large language models. Each AI agent is first deployed within SS&C’s own operations to ensure it meets performance and compliance standards before being released to the wider market.

SS&C General Manager for IA & Analytics Rob Stone highlighted the importance of this approach, saying, “Intelligent automation and AI have been transformation enablers for our organization, introducing new levels of business and revenue growth at speed and scale. As Customer Zero, we understood the need for tried and tested purpose-built solutions backed by strong governance and experienced support. With this offering, we are aiming to enable our customers to realize value from agentic AI safely, securely and quickly.”

SS&C is also expanding its Agent Services offering, which enables customers to request custom-built AI tools for tasks such as contract analysis, trade reconciliation and invoice processing. These agents can be used immediately or tailored to meet specific operational needs.
