KYCP's recycle bin update closes the compliance gap

KYCP has rolled out a significant update to how records are deleted within its system, introducing a recycle bin function that gives compliance teams greater control over sensitive data.

Until now, KYCP users had two options when removing a record. A physical deletion would strip all trace of the entry from the system, including audits, notes, comments and associated data all gone, with no means of reconstruction.

A logical deletion, by contrast, left a limited audit trail confirming a record had existed and been removed, though it offered no way to retrieve the underlying data. That second option proved a persistent source of confusion for clients, many of whom assumed it would allow them to recover records, only to find out it did not.

The updated functionality overhauls both pathways. When a user now attempts to delete an application or entity, the system requires them to manually type the word DELETE into a text box, a deliberate friction point designed to prevent accidental removal.

Once confirmed, the record is moved into a secure, temporary folder labelled Deleted Records, accessible from the right-hand side menu of the platform. Access to this area is permission-based, meaning organisations retain full control over which staff members can view or interact with it.

Within the Deleted Records screen, which functions much like a recycle bin, authorised users can view all recently removed applications and entities. Although records cannot be reinstated directly back into live cases, users with the appropriate permissions can export the data from any deleted application as a PDF. The module also supports both individual and bulk physical deletions, giving teams the flexibility to manage their data estate in line with internal governance policies.
