Ebury, the global financial solutions firm, has agreed a strategic sponsorship with Spanish football club Real Betis Balompié, becoming the club’s Official Transfer Partner for the next two seasons.
Under the deal, which was signed in Seville and covers the period from 1 July 2026 until 30 June 2028, Real Betis will be able to lean on Ebury’s technology and know-how to streamline its activity abroad, handle payments in a range of currencies and protect itself against foreign exchange volatility, challenges that have become increasingly prominent for large sporting organisations.
The tie-up also gives Ebury visibility across the club’s key digital and physical communication platforms. Beyond branding, both parties intend to run a shared programme of activities targeted at businesses across Seville and the wider Andalusia region, designed to give local firms easier access to specialist services covering cross-border payments, currency risk and overseas expansion.
Real Betis, which was established in 1907 and is headquartered in Seville, plays in LaLiga, the top division of Spanish football. It is among the nation’s best-known clubs, boasting a devoted fanbase and an expanding presence beyond Spain.
The agreement was signed by Luis Merino, general manager of Ebury in Spain, and Ramón Alarcón, CEO of Real Betis Balompié.
Ebury’s move builds on its wider strategy of using sports sponsorship to combine brand exposure, commercial relationship-building and the delivery of tailored financial services to the sporting world. To support this, the firm set up a dedicated unit, Ebury Sports Finance, which assists clubs and sporting bodies with international payments, treasury and FX exposure linked to player transfers, commercial rights, sponsorship deals and cross-border activity.
Globally, the company already works with clubs including Aston Villa FC, Fulham FC, Rangers FC, PSV Eindhoven, Parma Calcio 1913, Lech Poznan, FC Copenhagen, AIK and Royal Union st Gillioise. In Spain, its sponsorship roster features the Real Federación Española de Rugby and CD Leganés, among others.
Ebury general manager in Spain Luis Merino said, “This agreement brings together two organisations with a clear international outlook. Real Betis is a hugely prestigious sporting brand with growing global reach, while Ebury has spent more than fifteen years helping companies and institutions operate securely in international markets. We want to bring our expertise in international payments and foreign exchange risk management to the Club, while jointly developing initiatives that bring these solutions closer to Andalusian businesses.”
Real Betis Balompié CEO Ramón Alarcón said, “Bringing Ebury on board gives us a partner with specialist expertise in an area that is increasingly strategic for a club with international activity. As well as strengthening our sponsorship structure, this alliance gives us access to advanced financial solutions to manage our international operations more efficiently and opens up new opportunities for collaboration with the business community.”
