WeSure forms 20 partnerships with insurance, reinsurance companies

Tencent’s insurance platform WeSure has formed partnerships with 20 insurance and reinsurance companies in a bid of broadening its product suite.

The company is hoping its ‘data-driven’ and ‘social connection’ will help its to recommend more suitable products to customer, and these partnerships will help it to diversify its offerings.

China-based WeSure is hosted on the WeChat Mini Program and leverages social features to ease the purchasing of insurance. It was launched late last year and already has over 20 million monthly active users.

Users can purchase, inquire and complete claims directly from the app and via the instant messaging and lifestyle platform WeChat. Its products so far include health, auto, life, and travel insurance and it forms partnerships with other companies to personalise these offerings.

WeChat chairman and CEO Alan Lau WeSure said, “So far we have formed partnerships with more than 20 insurance companies, including Taikang, Pacific Insurance, PICC, Ping An, MetLife, and more. We will continue to widen our offerings and take a user angle to pre-select and customize products.

“We aim to make insurance far more user-centric than before – transparent terms, easy purchase process, affordable prices, and fun experience, so it is easier for users to access, understand and choose the right insurance product on WeSure.”

WeSure is looking to continue adding simple and customised products, as well as launch new features which encourage engagement from consumers.
