Nasdaq launches comprehensive ESG data and reporting platforms

Nasdaq, a capital markets technology firm, has unveiled two ground-breaking ESG data offerings tailored for corporates and investors.

The products, Nasdaq Metrio and eVestment ESG Analytics, aim to strengthen sustainability data collection, measurement, and reporting capabilities.

The launch of these new ESG offerings follows the heightened demand for more transparent and accountable sustainability practices. As corporate social responsibility and ethical investing become imperatives, Nasdaq aims to cater to this growing need through its latest products.

Nasdaq is renowned for its technology-driven trading, clearing, exchange technology, and public company services. They are an integral part of the capital markets, providing services that ease the operations for corporate entities, regulators, and investors.

Nasdaq Metrio is the amalgamation of Nasdaq’s ESG data management solution, OneReport, with technologies from Montreal-based ESG reporting software provider Metrio, which was acquired by Nasdaq last year. The platform aims to facilitate corporates in collecting, measuring, and disclosing investor-grade, audited ESG data. It also helps businesses navigate ESG frameworks and share relevant information with rating agencies, auditors, investors, and other stakeholders.

The platform also features an innovative carbon accounting and management product. This allows corporates to manage scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions data effectively.

eVestment ESG Analytics, on the other hand, assists asset managers in quantifying and communicating a portfolio’s ESG impact. It enables asset owners to compare asset managers’ policies with investment outcomes and to ensure that these are in line with ESG investment policies. The offering utilises algorithms and data sourced from ESG providers, including Nasdaq Ventures portfolio company Matter, based in Copenhagen.

Nelson Griggs, President of Capital Access Platforms, Nasdaq, said, “We are committed to meeting current and future corporate and investor needs to help clients unlock return on investment for their sustainability initiatives and impact investing strategies. Our clients look to us to help inform the development of market-based, demand-driven solutions to better navigate the rapidly evolving and impact investing ecosystem.”
