eToro, a renowned trading and investment platform, has expanded its portfolio offerings with the launch of XtremeWeather.

This innovative product aims to provide retail investors with an opportunity to invest in companies geared towards combating the challenges of extreme weather events.

The move comes at a time when extreme weather conditions are becoming a more pressing global concern. NASA’s recent report marked last summer as the hottest on record, underscoring the urgency of addressing climate-related issues. eToro’s XtremeWeather portfolio is designed to offer a strategic investment option in this context.

eToro has established itself as a significant player in the trading and investment sector. Their platforms facilitate a wide range of investment options, catering to diverse investor needs and preferences. The company’s commitment to innovation and responsiveness to global trends is evident in their latest offering.

The XtremeWeather portfolio is composed of 30 stocks across various industries such as renewable electricity, industrial machinery, and agricultural chemicals. These sectors are crucial in supporting recovery and normalization following extreme weather events. eToro’s team meticulously selected these stocks, considering factors like market capitalization, ESG scores, and sales growth.

In addition to its strategic composition, the portfolio is set to be rebalanced annually or as needed. This approach ensures its ongoing relevance and performance optimization. eToro has made the portfolio accessible with an initial investment of just USD$500. Investors can utilize eToro’s tools and charts for tracking performance, while the social feed provides updates on sector developments. However, it is currently not available to US users.

Dani Brinker, Head of Investment Portfolios at eToro, highlighted the significance of 2023 as a pivotal year in climate change awareness. He referenced various global climate events and stressed the growing demand for resilience and recovery solutions. This portfolio aligns with the upcoming global climate conference, COP28, aiming to offer investors a chance to climate-proof their portfolios.

eToro Head of Investment Portfolios Dani Brinker said, “2023 will be remembered as the year of climate change. From the effects of El Niño in Australia to the floods in Italy and the wildfires in Maui, almost no continent has been immune. The reality of climate change has created a growing demand for resilience and for recovery solutions.

“Extreme weather events push policymakers to invest or regulate to address climate change. With the global climate conference, COP28, around the corner, we wanted to offer retail investors the opportunity to invest in the climate-proof their portfolios and diversify into industries that will help rebuild our cities, communities, and surroundings wildlife after these extreme climate events.”
