A global payments processor operating across more than 200 countries and territories has overhauled its compliance and financial crime operations by deploying SymphonyAI’s cloud-native platform, achieving a tenfold improvement in alert processing speeds through agentic AI.
The unnamed processor, whose network handled in excess of 200 billion transactions in its 2024 fiscal year, had been grappling with a compliance infrastructure that struggled to keep pace with its scale.
The incumbent system, managed through third-party partnerships, was increasingly difficult to maintain, with upgrade cycles in some cases stretching beyond two years. Fragmented tooling across regions led to duplicated effort, inconsistent standards and mounting administrative overhead. The organisation needed a unified, cloud-first solution capable of delivering standardisation, automation and AI-driven risk detection, all whilst meeting stringent uptime requirements.
Following an extensive evaluation and proof of concept (PoC) programme, SymphonyAI was selected to replace the legacy environment. The platform’s active-active SaaS architecture was a key differentiator, offering 99.99% availability, a critical requirement for a processor operating with near-zero tolerance for downtime.
The PoC also demonstrated a 90% reduction in manual effort for alert adjudication, alongside automated alert routing and false positive reduction that directly improved investigator productivity.
Central to the solution is SymphonyAI’s agentic AI capability, which introduced intelligent workflow orchestration and a governed human-in-the-loop framework designed to ensure transparency and model explainability in line with the company’s compliance standards.
The deployment was built on SymphonyAI’s proprietary Eureka AI platform and integrated with the processor’s existing data ecosystem to create a single source of truth across compliance operations.
The results have been significant. Beyond the 90% reduction in manual alert adjudication effort, the organisation has replaced multi-year migration cycles with rapid SaaS-based updates, consolidated fragmented legacy infrastructure, and improved overall operational resilience. Alert processing is now ten times faster than under the previous approach.
