Finastra, a global financial services software provider, and Komgo, a digital trade finance platform, have partnered to connect their trade finance systems and reduce the manual processes created by fragmented infrastructure.
The collaboration will use Finastra’s Trade Innovation Nexus, an open application programming interface (API) layer, to connect Komgo’s Konsole trade finance platform directly with Finastra’s Trade Innovation system.
The integration is designed to help banks and their corporate customers streamline trade finance workflows without requiring institutions to replace their existing infrastructure.
By connecting the two platforms, the companies aim to reduce manual processing and transaction times, while supporting greater straight-through processing across trade finance workflows. Digital and auditable processes are also intended to improve visibility across transactions and support compliance, reporting and audit requirements.
The integration is expected to give financial institutions greater access to information across the trade finance process, supporting risk assessment and management while reducing some of the operational complexity associated with disconnected systems.
Backed by Vista Equity Partners, Finastra provides financial services software to thousands of institutions across more than 100 countries, including many of the world’s largest banks. Its technology covers areas including payments, lending, trade finance and universal banking.
Komgo is a Geneva-headquartered fintech focused on trade finance digitalisation. Its multi-bank platform connects corporates and financial institutions to manage and automate trade finance instruments including guarantees, standby letters of credit and documentary credits.
The partnership comes as financial institutions continue to digitise trade finance processes, with interoperability between platforms remaining a challenge as banks and corporates use multiple systems across their operations.
Komgo chief revenue officer Baptiste Audren said, “Finastra’s global presence, open platform approach and strong commitment to innovation in trade finance made it a natural partner for us. Digital trade continues to make global commerce more accessible and efficient, but progress often comes with added complexity. This is exactly where technology can help. By connecting Komgo’s trusted, multi-bank digital trade finance infrastructure with Finastra’s Trade Innovation, we are bringing our proven digital trade capabilities to a broader base of banks and corporates through Finastra’s extensive client base, while giving Finastra’s customers direct access to the industry’s most widely adopted trade finance network.”
Finastra head of trade & supply chain finance and digital channels Vinay Mendonca added, “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to helping Financial Institutions modernize trade finance through open, connected technologies. By combining Finastra’s deep trade finance capabilities with Komgo’s digital trade services through our Nexus API integration layer, we are enabling customers to reduce complexity, increase transparency and provide more streamlined trade finance experiences.”
