Australian digital bank Up has removed an AUS$5 fee for foreign ATM withdrawals as it pushes for an edge against its competitors.
To make the prospect even more attractive, it has also removed the qualification criteria to make those withdrawals, reported Savings.com.
“International ATM withdrawal fees have always felt a little out of place on Up and we’ve been working to remove them for a long time,” a spokesperson told the publication. “We hope now that more people will use Up when they travel or buy things online.”
That being said, the challenger bank warned that some ATM operators may still charge customers.
Up was launched in October 2018 as one of the first of the wave of new challenger banks sweeping in over Australia.
The founders, Dominic Pym and Grant Thomas launched Up after two big banks had backed out of having them create a digital banking solution for them. So instead they decided to take it upon themselves.
