Irish InsurTech Blink teams up with Allianz Partners to distribute travel disruption service

Irish InsurTech company Blink has teamed up with Allianz Partners to support a major distribution of its travel disruption insurance platform in the UK this month.

Blink claims the deal validates how pivotal InsurTech innovation is pivotal for the future of insurance solutions amidst challenges from the Covid-19 pandemic. Alongside as embedding Blink within Allianz travel policies, its affinity partners will also offer the solution.

Through the deal, Blink will offer flight disruption cover to  Allianz Partners and affinity policyholders, extending support UK policyholders wherever they are travelling to.

Blink offers a data-driven flight disruption solution. A consumer registers their flight details and Blink will automatically monitor the flight in real-time. The policyholder will automatically be alerted to any disruption and will offer a real-time problem resolution. The traveller will be offered several options within their policy term to remove the stress and consequence of the disruption.

Blink CEO Paul Prendergast said, “Partnering with Allianz Partners will ramp up our presence and visibility in the UK considerably and we are delighted to be working with one of the world’s largest travel insurance providers in delivering transformative change to their client service offering.

“Allianz Partners has been definitive from the outset in placing customer needs at the centre of the process and are firm advocates for embedded, seamless insurance processes. As a result, we have built a robust service that can process more than 60,000 claims per hour and will support the provision of real-time flight disruption cover for any flight delayed by more than two hours to Allianz Partners and Affinity policyholders.”

Late last year, Blink launched a service to provide liquidity to small and medium-sized businesses in the immediate aftermath of an insured event, such as a hurricane.
