Checkout.com has launched Intelligent Acceptance, its latest product designed to optimise acceptance rates and bolster merchant revenues.

The launch of Intelligent Acceptance stems from Checkout.com’s commitment to aid merchants in optimising their payment acceptance rates using AI. The solution is targeted at reducing the significant revenue losses businesses experience due to false declines and increasing operating expenses.

Checkout.com has been a key player in the digital economy for over a decade. Their expertise lies in offering global payment solutions that empower businesses to optimise their financial transactions. Checkout.com leverages its expansive global transaction data to provide real-time insights that facilitate smoother business operations.

Intelligent Acceptance is an AI-powered optimization engine, created using billions of transactional data points from Checkout.com’s global network. The tool optimises across the entire payment flow, including pre-processing aspects such as messaging and routing, and post-processing with adaptive retries. It provides businesses with the control to improve any stage of their transaction journey based on specific criteria such as maximising acceptance rates, lowering transaction costs, or both.

With Intelligent Acceptance, merchants can leverage Network Tokens for better acceptance rates, lower interchange fees, and secure card information sharing. The tool also enables dynamic routing of transactions to the network with the lowest fees, thereby helping drive down costs. The product adheres to compliance requirements by instantly identifying if a transaction requires 3DS authentication and adds the necessary data to the payment request.

Intelligent Acceptance’s beta testing has achieved meaningful results, enabling transactions that created about $750m of new revenue and increasing the acceptance rates by up to 9.5 percentage points for over 30 merchants including Klarna, Ant Group, NordVPN, Reach, and Sunday.

Reach’s Head of Key Partnerships, Melissa Pottenger, shared, “Since going live with Intelligent Acceptance, the authorisation rate of payments processed on Checkout.com’s rails has increased by nearly 10%. In a game where small improvements drive big impact, this performance improvement is colossal for our business and, crucially, for our client’s bottom line.”

Chief Product Officer at Checkout.com, Meron Colbeci, stated, “We fundamentally believe in abstracting complexity for businesses and empowering them to optimise their payments with ease. Machine learning enables us to offer this to our merchants for the first time at scale. Merchants alone lack sufficient data to effectively train an AI algorithm, whereas we can leverage our expansive global transaction data to provide real-time insights. That’s why we’ve built an adaptive AI-powered payments engine to constantly optimise acceptance rates – unlocking more revenue, saving merchants time and offering greater cost controls.”
