Barclays strengthens sustainability focus with Denise Wong’s appointment

Barclays has officially announced the appointment of Denise Wong as their Head of Sustainable and Impact Banking for the Asia Pacific region. 

Barclays is a global leader in the banking and financial services sector, operating in a myriad of markets around the world. As a titan in the industry, they offer a range of financial products and services to both individuals and businesses, positioning themselves at the forefront of modern banking innovations.

Denise Wong is stepping into the position of Head of Sustainable and Impact Banking for the Asia Pacific at Barclays. In this capacity, she will play a pivotal role in advising corporate and institutional clients, helping them to harness opportunities and meet their sustainability goals. This is especially crucial as businesses look to transition towards a low carbon economy. Ms. Wong will be under the regional leadership of Vanessa Koo, the Head of Investment Banking for the Asia Pacific.

With a rich professional journey spanning over 20 years, Denise Wong brings a wealth of experience to Barclays. She has had significant stints with the bank in both Hong Kong and New York. Her most recent roles include being a Venture Capital investor at VU Venture Partners and serving as the Chief Financial Officer at Green Monday, a rising alternative protein firm in Asia. Before these ventures, she dedicated 12 years to Barclays, with her concluding role being the Head of Consumer & Retail, Asia Pacific ex-Japan for Investment Banking.

On top of her regional responsibilities, Ms. Wong will also functionally report to Brian Reilly and Marie Freier, who are the Global Co-Heads of Sustainable and Impact Banking.
