NeighborShare, a nonprofit focused on direct person-to-person charitable giving, has announced its expansion into Greater Boston through a partnership with eight local nonprofits and funding support from the MassMutual Foundation.

The firm is dedicated to enabling communities to provide immediate financial assistance to individuals in need through direct giving.

The MassMutual Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, supports initiatives that enhance financial security and resilience within communities.

The partnership aims to address critical unmet needs in the Boston area, connecting local nonprofits with tools and resources to aid individuals directly.

NeighborShare’s platform facilitates streamlined charitable contributions, ensuring support reaches individuals efficiently.

The firm, which operates across 26 states, provides a platform enabling direct contributions from individuals to meet urgent community needs.

By partnering with trusted nonprofits, the organisation ensures donations go directly to those requiring immediate assistance. Its approach is designed to fill gaps not covered by traditional social service systems.

The MassMutual Foundation focuses on fostering financial well-being and building stronger communities. It supports programmes and organisations that aim to improve financial literacy, security, and resilience.

Eight Boston nonprofits are part of the collaboration: Women’s Money Matters, Bridges Homeward, HarborCOV, La Colaborativa, NOAH, Roca, Sportsmen’s Tennis & Enrichment Center, and YouthBuild Boston. Each organisation plays a key role in addressing specific community needs, ranging from financial empowerment and housing to youth development and violence prevention.

Speaking on the expansion, NeighborShare executive director Kelli Kreps said, “We’re thrilled to bring NeighborShare to Boston. Our platform is already connecting neighbours in need with those who can help in 26 states across the country, and we’re excited to work with our new partners to address critical unmet needs in the Boston community. The support from the MassMutual Foundation has been instrumental in seeding this expansion and we will be seeking out more Boston-based supporters to expand our number of nonprofit partners and ultimately neighbours served.”

Dennis Duquette, president & CEO of the MassMutual Foundation, highlighted the importance of the collaboration, stating, “Building stronger communities is at the forefront of everything that the MassMutual Foundation does. Throughout our work with NeighborShare, we have seen how their vision of creating more direct pathways to charitable giving directly contributes to the strength of a community. NeighborShare’s recent expansion into Boston represents a vital step in realising that vision by continuing to foster financial security for those who need it most. We look forward to continuing our partnership and are committed to further increasing financial resilience across Massachusetts.”
