TBC Bank Uzbekistan targets 1m cards with UZCARD

TBC Bank Uzbekistan, one of the country’s largest digital banks, is expanding its TBC Salom debit card programme through a new partnership with UZCARD, with the two companies targeting up to 1m additional cards during the initial phase.

UZCARD becomes the latest issuing partner for TBC Salom, joining Humo and Visa. The companies said the partnership can be expanded further as the programme develops. The deal comes as demand for TBC Salom continues to grow. Since launching in late 2024, card issuance has increased more than tenfold, reaching 1.2m active cards as of 30 June 2026.

TBC Salom offers customers 12% annual interest on deposits, 5% cashback with participating merchants and fee-free cash transfers and ATM withdrawals. The new UZCARD version also gives customers access to reduced fares through ATTO, the payment system used across Uzbekistan’s public transport network.

The bank said the new feature is designed to make the card more useful for everyday spending and transport. As part of the launch, new UZCARD cardholders will also receive 5% cashback on every purchase during their first month after activation. The promotional offer runs until 31 December 2026.

The expansion forms part of TBC Bank Uzbekistan’s wider strategy to increase customer activity across its digital financial ecosystem. Alongside TBC Salom, the group’s TBC Osmon credit card provides a route into additional services including lending, buy now, pay later (BNPL), business banking, insurance, travel and ticketing.

TBC Uzbekistan operates a broader digital ecosystem serving both consumers and businesses. Its consumer offering combines TBC UZ’s digital banking services with Payme, while TBC Business and BILLZ focus on business banking.

The group also uses in-house AI tools, including its AI Assistant Lola, and now serves nearly 6m monthly active users, according to the company. TBC Uzbekistan said it is the most recognised banking and payments brand in Tashkent and became profitable two years after launching. The company was also named by CNBC and Statista among the world’s leading FinTech companies, becoming the first Central Asian business to receive the recognition. TBC Uzbekistan is part of TBC Bank Group, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker TBCG.

TBC Bank Uzbekistan CEO Spartak Tetrashvili said, “Through this partnership, we are continuing to raise the bar for financial services in Uzbekistan, expanding TBC Salom’s capabilities and providing an unparalleled customer experience. Combining our unique digital expertise with UZCARD’s payments system and ATTO’s transport functionality, we have created a product that helps users handle more of their daily needs. Demand for TBC Salom has been exceptional since launch, and we have ambitious plans to further entrench its position as Uzbekistan’s leading daily banking product.”

UZCARD director of the banking and payment organisations department Alisher Yunuskhodjaev added, “At UZCARD, we’re focused on developing products that meet people’s real needs and help make everyday payments more convenient. Through this partnership with TBC Bank Uzbekistan, we have been able to produce a unique tool that can be used across all touchpoints in daily life, from shopping to transferring money and getting around the city or country on public transport.”
