Tandem, the UK’s pioneering greener digital bank, has proudly announced the appointment of James Streeter as the Head of ESG.
Established as a forerunner in green digital banking, Tandem stands firm in its commitment to an eco-friendly banking paradigm. The bank has progressively evolved into a green-focused challenger, with over 68% of its loan book directly supporting green initiatives. Demonstrating its profound environmental commitment, Tandem refrains from investing in fossil fuels and related detrimental industries. Instead, they allocate funds from their savings accounts to foster lending products, including green home improvement loans for sustainable innovations like solar panels and air source heat pumps.
James Streeter, bringing with him a staggering 25 years of unparalleled experience in the sustainability sector, is set to oversee Tandem’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy. His responsibilities will encompass the formulation of the bank’s ESG policies, ensuring compliance, setting targets, and seamlessly integrating ESG principles into Tandem’s product and service propositions.
Throughout his illustrious career, James has held significant sustainability roles with reputable companies such as Symrise, BG Group, Hess Corporation, and Blue International Group. Moreover, he’s successfully managed his consultancy, Viridian Advisory. Furthermore, he holds the esteemed position of chair at the Sustainable Wine Roundtable and is an influential member of the Board of Trustees for InterClimate Network, fuelling the aspirations of the upcoming wave of climate change leaders.
James will operate from Tandem’s contemporary London office. With an expansive vision for the bank’s future, there are plans to establish a broader ESG team to bolster the bank’s sustainability activities. This pivotal role will also open avenues for James to engage more deeply with industry leaders and government bodies, advancing the green agenda for both enterprises and consumers alike.
